Silver Thundercats, I’m doing something a little crazy.
For research… of course. 😉
I’ve been reading the studies on “exercise snacks” — short bursts of movement throughout the day — and one in particular stopped me in my tracks: This 2024 study from PubMed showed that just 1-2 minutes of squats every hour improved glucose control and muscle strength in adults. Not 45 minutes at the gym. Not CrossFit. Squats. Every hour.
So I thought… what if we tested this on us? Women 50+. Real life. Real schedules. Real knees.
Welcome to the 90 Day Reset Challenge. I’m doing a case study on myself, and I want you to join me for research… of course.
What Is the 90 Day Reset Challenge?
Simple rules. Big potential impact.
Every hour for 8-10 hours a day:
Do 10-20 bodyweight squats.
That’s it. 1-2 minutes. Then back to life.
Wake up at 7am? Your first set is at 8am. Last set around 5pm or 6pm. You’re done.
Work at a desk? Stand up, squat, sit down. No one has to know.
Can’t do squats or get too sore? Replace them with something you can do: counter push-ups, calf raises, marching in place, seated leg lifts. The point is hourly movement, not punishment.
This isn’t about weight loss. It’s about resetting our metabolism, energy, and strength after 50. It’s about proving we’re not done yet.
Why I’m Doing This as a Case Study
I’m 50. I’ve got the same creaky knees and busy schedule you do.
The study showed real metabolic benefits from “exercise snacks.” But most research is done on 20-year-olds in labs.
What happens when Silver Thundercats do it in real life for 90 days?
I don’t know. That’s why we’re testing it. On me. On you. Together.
I’m tracking:
- Energy levels
- Sleep quality
- How my clothes fit
- Strength — can I get up off the floor easier?
- Mood — because movement is medicine
This is not medical advice. I’m not a doctor, just a retired nurse practitioner. I’m a 50-year-old woman doing n=1 research on myself and inviting you to do the same. Always check with your doctor before starting anything new.
How to Join Me for Research… Of Course
Step 1: Download the Free Worksheets
I made printable trackers so we can actually see our progress. One sheet for each month. Just check off each hour.

Step 2: Pick Your Movement
Squats are the goal. But if your knees say no, pick your swap:
- Bad knees? Chair sit-to-stands or calf raises
- Bad balance? Hold the counter, do mini-squats
- At work? Seated marches or ankle circles under the desk
No shame. Just movement.
Step 3: Check In With Me Weekly
Every Sunday I’ll post in my Silver Thundercats Facebook Group asking how it went.
- What worked?
- What hurt?
- What surprised you?
Tag me on your progress posts so I can cheer you on. Use #90DayReset so we can all find each other.
Step 4: Give Yourself Grace
Miss an hour? Who cares. Do the next one. Miss a day? Start again tomorrow. This is 90 days, not 90 hours of perfection.
What If I Can Only Do 5 Hours a Day?
Then do 5. The study used hourly “snacks.” More is better, but some is infinitely better than none.
This is about consistency, not intensity. We’re building a habit, not training for the Olympics.
Silver Thundercats, Are You In?
I’m starting Monday.
This is an experiment. We’re the scientists AND the subjects.
Comment “I’M IN” below if you’re joining me for research… of course. Tell me if you’re Team Squats or Team Modified.
Let’s see what 90 days of hourly movement does for women over 50.
I have a feeling it’s going to be good.
We’re not done yet. We’re just getting started ⚡

Silver Thundercats, I’m doing a 90-day experiment on myself and I need research partners…
The 90 Day Reset Challenge starts Monday. Every hour: 10 squats. That’s it.
Based on this study 👉 showing hourly movement helps blood sugar + strength.
I made us worksheets. We check in here every Sunday.
